About

Aimee_MR-17-2

I hold a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology, and my academic journey began as an assistant profession in a Biology Department, where I taught life sciences. While my roots are in science, my true passion lies in science education—specifically, understanding how students learn and engage with Biology. This passion led me to transition into the Department of Teacher Education, where I taught courses on multiculturalism in the classroom and science methods for both elementary and secondary educators.

In addition to my teaching role, I also assumed the position of Director of the University Center for Teaching Excellence, where I was deeply involved in advancing professional development initiatives across campus. I am particularly focused on fostering evidence-based and inclusive teaching practices that support diverse learners and empower educators at all levels.

Throughout my career, I’ve taken on several leadership roles, and am currently running the Curriculum Fellows Program at Harvard Medical school. This postdoctoral fellowship prepares STEM PhD students for careers in academia and leadership, helping them develop the skills to become effective faculty members and leaders in higher education.

As a Coast Guard spouse, I’ve navigated the challenges of frequent relocations, which has only strengthened my commitment to improving STEM education in colleges and universities. Regardless of where I am, my passion for advancing science education and fostering an inclusive, evidence-based learning environment remains unwavering.
